About Me

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Sarah Weck and I am currently in my fourth year of teaching. I teach on the outskirts of Indianapolis, IN, at a fabulous (mega)school. We currently have over 1,100 students enrolled at my school!

I graduated from Ball State University in 2012, after completing my student teaching on an American Army base in Baumholder, Germany. I love to travel and explore new places, so student teaching overseas was so much fun!

I was lucky enough to get hired right away, and I spent my first year in a split position. I have dual certification for special education and general education, so I taught 1/2 day AM kindergarten and I traveled to a nearby school to work as a special education teacher every afternoon. It was hectic, but I had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, who helped me through my first year of teaching. I loved kindergarten so much, and I was sad when there wasn't a kindergarten position at either school I worked at for the following year, but I was lucky enough to stay on as a first grade teacher. I LOVE first grade and am so happy I ended up here! I thought nothing could be better than kindergarten, but I love first grade even more!

I am currently in my third year of teaching 1st grade and I couldn't be happier. I teach an inclusion classroom, so I get the best of both worlds! Even though some of my students with special needs wear me down sometimes, I wouldn't trade them for the world! Some may call me a work-a-holic, but I love my job and I love my kids, and I want to be the best teacher I can be for them.

  1. Hello,
I am new to blogging and think your blog is adorable! I'm a first grade teacher too! I have a question. Did you make you "about me picture" graphic thingy on the right side of your blog? Or did someone do it for you. If you don't mind sharing.

    Thanks in advance,

    1. Thanks! I did everything myself.

I used pixlr for almost everything, including my about me picture. The image is 160x300 px. I stuck my photo in there and then added the text. You can use your own fonts, which is awesome!
